Marathon come out on top in tight affair to seal CONCACAF Champions League qualification

Due to technical difficulties -the stream did not work for me- I was unable to watch this game. Despite my lack of attendance, CD Marathon earned a place in their first Champions League in 10 years.

Rather than trying to just write an article based off of highlights -something about journalistic integrity- here is an article about the match itself. https://www.concacafleague.com/en/concacaf-league/game-detail/572801#tab_match=recap.

Forge FC will feel hard done by once again as they narrowly miss out on Champions League spot for the second game. They created as many chances as Marathon and were inches from equalising when Babouli hit the cross bar. Ultimately though, just as in their game with Arcahaie, they were clearly suffering from a lack of match sharpness from not playing competitive football in months.

Marathon will take this win back into the post-season of the Apetura finals in Honduras. They will look to finish this calendar year on a high by staying top of their group and qualifying for the semi finals of the Honduran Liga Nacional. However, they now have the knowledge that next year they will be in the CONCACAF Champions League regardless of their performance in the league.
